Remote Learning

Remote Education Provision: Information for Parents

This information is intended to provide clarity and transparency to pupils and parents or carers about what to expect from remote education if local/national restrictions require entire cohorts (or bubbles) to remain at home, or if individual pupils are self-isolating.

The Remote Curriculum: What is taught to pupils at home

  • We aim to deliver the same curriculum remotely as we do in school, wherever possible and appropriate.
  • In some cases, adaptations may be necessary. For example, practical subjects such as PE, DT or Science experiments may be simplified for home contexts.

Remote Teaching and Study Time Each Day

We expect that remote education (including remote teaching and independent work) will take pupils broadly:

  • Key Stage 1: 3 hours a day on average
  • Key Stage 2: 4 hours a day on average

Accessing Remote Education

  • Remote education will be provided through the school website, dated for the relevant day and clearly labelled for the correct year.
  • Pupils may also be provided with printed resources if they cannot access online learning.

Engagement and Feedback

  • We expect pupils to take part in daily learning and parents to support access where possible.
  • Teachers will monitor engagement through submitted work and contact home where necessary.
  • Feedback will be provided via email when the work is submitted.

Support for Pupils Without Digital Access

  • We recognise that some pupils may not have suitable online access at home. To support these pupils, we will:
    • Provide printed learning packs where possible.
    • Offer phone calls (where appropriate) to ensure pupils remain supported.

Remote Education for Self-Isolating Pupils

  • Where individual pupils need to self-isolate, but the majority of their peer group remains in school, pupils will be provided with work that mirrors classroom learning, adapted to remote delivery.

Additional Support for Pupils with Particular Needs

  • We recognise that some pupils, for example those with SEND, may require additional support. We will work with families to provide tailored resources and regular contact.

Keeping in Touch

  • Parents can contact teachers via email
  • Staff will respond within working hours and ensure ongoing communication with families.
