Times Table Rock Stars & NumBots

Times Tables at Riverside Primary

At Riverside Primary School, we place a strong emphasis on the recall of key facts, automaticity, and procedural fluency to help children gain confidence and accuracy in their times tables.

To support this, we use Times Tables Rock Stars (TTRS) — an engaging, online platform designed to help children practise and master multiplication and division facts through regular, short bursts of practice.

We encourage all children to use TTRS regularly at home to reinforce their learning and build fluency — laying strong foundations for success in maths.

NumBots at Riverside Primary

This year, we are working alongside NCETM and our Maths Hub to focus on fluency development in EYFS and KS1. Children participate in daily sessions outside their usual numeracy lessons, targeting key areas such as:

  • Number Sense & Early Calculation
  • Recall & Automaticity
  • Procedural Fluency
  • Conceptual Understanding Flexible Thinking

To support learning at home, we encourage EYFS and KS1 children to use NumBots, an online program specifically designed to develop fluency in number sense, particularly addition and subtraction. NumBots aligns closely with NCETM’s definition of fluency, focusing on efficiency, accuracy, and flexibility.
